When the road ahead was dark and drear

You were near

A light to guide me thru the night

When my load was heavy and bore me down

You were there to carry it around

Giving me rest through the test

When my grief overwhelmed and bore me down

You did not let me drown

You delivered my soul and made me whole

My light in the darkness

My rest from the load

My joy in my grief

My Saviour my friend
